Campus Housing Access
The majority of residential buildings on campus are secured with electronic locks. Room access is automatically encoded onto the ID Card for first-year students. Direct campus housing access questions to Housing Services at housing@andrew.cmu.edu.
Access Hardware Malfunctions
Hardware malfunctions, such as doors not closing or locking properly, or card reader failures, should be reported to ensure they are repaired, and security is maintained. Report issues to Facilities Management Services.
If the issue is determined to be a damaged or improperly coded ID Card, visit the Computing Services Help Center in 119 Cyert Hall.
Printing & Copying
Campus Printing
Computing Services and Hunt Library maintain publicly accessible printing stations on campus. The ID Card may be used for the Campus Printing system. Each semester, enrolled degree-seeking students and faculty and staff members are allocated a print quota of $40, which can be used to pay for printing in the Campus Printing system. These funds are distributed on a "use it or lose it" basis. Once the print quota is depleted, an individual may supplement it by depositing money into their Plaid Cash account. Printing quota balances can be monitored by visiting the .
Sponsored cardholders are not issued a print quota; however, they may use the Campus Printing system by depositing money into a Plaid Cash account. Print jobs may be submitted as a "guest" user, and Plaid Cash will be used to pay for the service.
For more information, visit the How to Print page.
Copying
Copying is available at select printer locations and in Hunt Library. Copies are available at a rate of $0.10.
Departmental Printing & Copying
Departments can purchase Print/Copy Cards from The Computing Services Help Center to have printing and copying charged to an Oracle string. Departments may also purchase a Print/Copy Card for an individual. Departmentally supplied funds are non-refundable and may be used only for printing and copying. To request a departmental Print/Copy Card, complete the Departmental Deposit Request form and return it to the Computing Services Help Center.
Parking Garages & Lots
Several campus parking garages and lots require swipe access using an ID Card. To prevent wear/damage on the ID Card, a separate Parking Card may be purchased for $10. Cards should last 4 years. Cards that need to be replaced after 4 years will require another $10 payment. Only one card can be issued per parking pass. For more information, contact the Computing Services Help Center.
