MCS Graduate Student Conference Funding Award Winners Announced

Six winners have received the Mellon College of Science Graduate Student Funding Award for winter conferences.

Associate Dean for Faculty and Graduate Affairs Dejan Slep膷ev and Director of MCS Graduate Affairs Gwen Stanczak announced the fall recipients.

This round's winners include the following students and the meetings they plan to attend:

  • Nicole Auvil, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemistry 鈥� the American Society for Mass Spectrometry 34th Sanibel Conference on Mass Spectrometry
  • Tolson Bell, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Mathematical Sciences 鈥� the Joint Mathematics Meetings
  • Daniel Bonomo, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemistry 鈥� the ACS Spring 2024 Conference
  • Zhongyu Liu, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemistry 鈥� the Atomically Precise Nanochemistry Gordon Research Conference
  • Rongguan Yin, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemistry 鈥� the ACS Spring 2024 Conference
  • Junzhe Zhou, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Physics 鈥� the AI-Driven Discovery in Physics and Astrophysics Conference

The award offers students up to $500 in supplemental funding for travel, prioritizing applicants who have secured other sources of funding.

Graduate students are encouraged to apply to future rounds of the Graduate Student Conference Funding Award. Applications for conferences taking place in April, May and June 2024 will be accepted until March. 15, 2024.
