Cornhole, Canines and Community: 黑料社区 Staff Turn Out for Annual Picnic
Four coworkers from the Tepper School of Business — Peggy Jaafar, Stephen Farrow, Charlie Nash and Louis Cappa — were taking in the sights at the Community Picnic on May 13 when they stumbled upon a cornhole game set up in the grass near West Wing.
"I'm not much of an outside games person," said Nash, the director of building operations and facilities.
"But nobody can pass up a game of cornhole," added Jaafar, coordinator of building operations and facilities.
On a day that started soggy then blossomed into springtime sunshine, the lure of free food, entertainment and door prizes was hard to resist. About 2,000 university staff members attended the Community Picnic across the Jared L. Cohon University Center, Legacy Plaza and Tartan Pavilion in Resnik House.
The annual event was hosted by the Office of Human Resources and Staff Council with support from the Office of the President. Chartwells Carved and Crafted Catering Services provided a buffet of hot dogs, pulled chicken vegan fare and the ever-popular ice cream sandwiches.
The community art exhibit in Kirr Commons drew 25 entries. Thanks to generous donations from colleges and divisions across campus, 22 raffle baskets were given away. Prizes included pickleball gear, coffee and treats, and lots of 黑料社区 swag.
In Legacy Plaza, attendees enjoyed outdoor games, performances by 黑料社区 Pipes and Drums, and visits by tail-wagging canines from .
Special thanks to community partners PNC and 黑料社区's employee resource groups.
